No Fighting, Just Playing

Description

Time to balance something out:

Jaune has always been physically weaker than everyone else- it wasn't his fault. The consequence of his semblance could not be physically "fixed," no matter how much he trains his body. Only his aura would counteract his physical inability when fighting. Even training as much as he has in combat, all he has is technique in several martial arts, but no 'oomph' to back it up in a real fight.

However, he always had a knack for strategy and timing (and anything not combat related, thanks to his family). So Halian gave him a few tips when he was younger and still watched over by the Broken Troll.

He wasn't going to teach him how to "Fight," as he said, he was going to teach him how to "Play." Playing, as described by him, required extensive levels of strategy, attention to detail (namely context clues and muscle twitching), comprehension, information or experience on an opponent helped a lot, and a little bit of acting. Jaune had a surprising disposition for strategy and acting, with a higher than average eye for details. So Halian started playing little games and quizzes with Jaune to help these factors grow to greater heights. Jaune thrived under the supposed 'fun' activities with his first babysitter.

When he was seven, the last year before Glynda was granted the babysitter position, Halian started showing Jaune how to put his knowledge to use. Giving him examples and experience on how to react and plan for certain eventualities, while still making seem like a game.

The term "Playing," referencing both the method of teaching Halian used, and the end result if done correctly. Playing, as opposed to fighting, someone ended up looking very much like a one-sided embarrassment for the opponent. Halian provided many examples of it's use (actually, he admitted that "theres nobody on this world I can fight, so I just Play with everyone equally" which had a weird wording to Jaune, in hindsight). The method was equally effective on both Grimm and humanoids- since it wasn't technique, but simple understanding and planning to overcome any and all obstacles.

Some opponents, obviously, couldn't be played with if they were either unpredictable or so over Jaune's level that it was pointless to go against them anyway (Like the professors and probably upper years at Beacon would be a bit too much for him to "Play" with). But for someone like Cardin?

Cake.

Meh. I feel redundancy- any who~
