Love of Sorts: Loyalty

Description

Pair: Leon Ozborn and Yoko Arzlinnet

Their Story: Leon's life was full of ups and downs. Early in his life, just old enough to remember, but young enough to grow past the trauma, he and his elder brother lost their parents to a twenty-three car pile up. With minimal support from distant relatives, his older brother (halfway through middle-school at the time) took care of the finances left to them enough to sell their house and move them into a rather comfy little apartment for an affordable price. Once he hit high school he took on a part time job in order to safely support them, in the process cementing himself as an older sibling that Leon could look up to. In most matters, anyway.

The two brothers, after the death of their parents, coped mainly by leaning on each other, and taking up specific interests and hobbies. For Leon, he found a second home in miniature-mech models and books on mechanics- something he'd shared with his parents when they were alive. This eventually turned into a fondness for actual robotics and science fiction novels. He proved to be quite the prodigy when it came to the mechanical and electrical workings, even going so far as to join and lead their school's robotics club. Despite the usually "nerdy" interests, Leon proved to be relatively popular all things considered.

His brother, on the other hand, took an interest in two things: girls and martial arts (Well, and raising his brother as best he could, but that one didn't count). By the time he was in high school, that had evolved into being a master of several different arts and being on the border of being diagnosed with satyriasis. Rumors around school had stated that he'd slept with every girl in his grade, the more attractive female teachers, and even some of the girls on visiting during sport seasons regardless of their being single or not (this was extremely exaggerated, but he did bed at least half his female peers at one point or another, but with only a unique exception, they were always single). He was known to have quite the way with words, and his natural charisma knew no bounds.

Among several others, Yoko ended up part of Leon's close circle of friends that stuck together through middle school and high school. The friends spent just about every chance they could together both for academic tasks and casual entertainment. For obvious reasons, they normally spent time at any of their home except Leon's. They were understanding of his reasons: not only was his brother supposedly aiming to lay with anything pretty and around his age (which some of them were), it was still an apartment for two and didn't have much space for socializing. Out of all his friends, he usually ended up hanging out with Yoko more than the rest, and could safely call each other their "best friend."

That said, she was also one of the first-hand witnesses to the seemingly everlasting mistake that was Leon's romantic life. Seeing as Leon was attractive in his own right, and not unpopular, it was only a matter of time before he ended up with a girlfriend to call his own. One of the cute girls from the year ahead. It started rather well, until about two months into their relationship that he decided to invite her to a family dinner at his apartment. He knew it was a mistake about halfway through the first course when his brother had turned on the charm. Leon didn't even bother commenting aside from an indifferent glare when his girlfriend actually insisted on his brother escorting her home, since he owned the family car.

Leon was (understandably) quite miffed with his brother when he came back nearly three hours later, reeking of sex (a scent he'd long since grown accustomed to in the apartment). It took nearly a week before he finally accepted and understood his older brother's reasoning: he was actually quite protective of Leon, considering they were the only family they had. Therefore, Leon only deserved the best with the greatest chance of making him happy. Just because he was good at flirting, didn't mean Leon was brothers with an incubus: his girlfriend was just an unfaithful bitch. While Leon saw intimacy an act of love and emotional proof, his brother was the opposite-

"I just look for a warm body to share a bed with, you look for a warm home to share your heart with. She wouldn't give you that, so she isn't worthy of your feelings."

Frankly, he was damn lucky Leon loved him as much as he did, and understood his dirty logic.

Yoko, while not having actually met Leon's brother outside of casual passing at school, could see how much trouble it gave her best friend for that one week it took to get over the act done. She was there to comfort him, and helped bounce the supposed logic behind his brother's actions around in the air for a while. While she still thought it was a rotten thing to do to your little brother, she could... kind of see what the reasoning was. He was still lucky that she couldn't plant her shoe between his legs during school hours, though. After a while, Leon finally got back into the swing of things, and tried dating again.

It went on for yet another ten relationships, all ending with his girlfriends either making plans to meet his brother later, or even having the audacity to go to his room right there in the apartment. After the first three, Leon took on a rather pragmatic view about it. By the fifth, he didn't even wait until the end of the first month to invite them over and essentially "test their worth." He'd long since decided to focus on friends and his interest in robotics, and only tried another relationship when he thought there might be a chance. After the tenth, he just called it quits on finding romance- he and his brother had since graduated, and still girls from his local college fell for his brother's suave nature. Especially when the last three almost blatantly stated that they dated him so they'd have a shot with the "God in Bed." His brother wasn't even in college (as he'd chosen to focus his all on martial arts, and found a job related to it)!

Yoko and several of his friends followed the same path to college, learning more about fields related to robotics and engineering. This allowed even more time to grow closer, although Leon was notably unresponsive when Yoko eventually started dropping flirtatious comments and hints of interest. His past experiences had long since proved they didn't mean much for the possibility of a decent life partner, BFFs or not. He held out for nearly three years (three torturous years of having her basically throw herself over him in ever skimpier clothes in private, and simply holding herself closer in public), before she finally broke him down and basically forced him to accept her feelings.

She maintained her patience, considering she knew exactly what caused his hesitations to start anything with her. That said, she was a bit outgoing when it came to things she wanted. And she wanted. She read the manga and watched all the anime- The hesitant childhood-friend-love-interest was the sad childhood-friend-love-interest! After several months of breaking his hesitation of returning her affections openly (honestly, they could trust each other with their souls already, but his fears of hope were attained for a legitimate reason), she asked him to invite her to meet his brother. To "prove her Loyalty" to him.

Despite knowing he could trust her more than the entirety of all his past relationships put together (multiplied by several magnitudes), he still dreaded the coming dinner. When they got there, they were greeted by Leon's smiling brother, eyes lidded in a decidedly flirtatious manner that got him laid at least every other night. Yoko, as his brother's elusive friend (he knew why he never met her properly before this, but he wouldn't put his brother through that without "just" cause either way), was never in his sights, but he always thought of her as an incredibly attractive young woman. He figured based on the way they acted that they'd likely end up together at one point, assuming Leon didn't find someone else in the meanwhile. It was time to test if she was truly worthy of having such an important part in his brother's life.

Unfortunately for him, he wasn't protected by school rules anymore.

Even as Leon's shocked body was hauled away from his front door, he watched as his brother smiled at him. Even through the tears of (happy) agony as he slowly sunk to his knees, clutching between his legs with pitiful whimpers. Leon didn't even come to until he found himself in the familiar room of Yoko, with her dressed in a lacy bit of sleep wear, essentially demanding he get his lucky ass in bed.

     He didn't argue.

Her Quirk: Yoko grew up in a relatively well off family. Her parents owned a local chain business, and tended to spend as much time away from home as in it. After getting through elementary school, her parents took to expanding their business which left them less time to be at home. She understood her parents well enough- her parents loved her, but the business was also the thing keeping the bread on the table for their family. They still made a note to be home for dinner every night, barring emergencies. Luckily, by that point, she'd made plenty of friends. The first of which, was a boy by the name of Leon. He'd taken an interest in robotics, and she was quite fond of electronics. Over their years in school, and being around each other for so long, she eventually found herself growing attracted to him. He was nice, cute, knew each other so long that they were closer than any of their other friends, and smart to boot. It helped that their personalities meshed well despite him putting up such a fight about starting a romance. After all, she knew him better than most, and understood why he didn't want to put their mutual loyalty into question to begin with.

His Quirk: Only Leon's earliest memories have any presence of his parents. As such, the closest thing to a parental figure (and someone he inevitably looked up to) he had was this elder brother, who really put his all into making sure they could live well. As such, he grew up understanding the escalation of his brother's addiction to the fairer sex. The difference between them, in regards to what they were looking for in a girl once they were both of age to understand the topic, was a matter of loyalty. While his brother was all for one night stands and minimal emotional attachments (bed-buddies was fine, but going steady? Hell nah) and physical pleasure, Leon wanted someone who he could share a life with. Thats why his anger at his brother seducing his girlfriends only left him steaming for about a week or so (admittedly requiring the shoulder of his best friend and confidant during that period of time), and not even particularly displeased with him for the following ones. If they couldn't even have the decency to remain loyal to a relationship through a single family dinner, why would he seek out a life with them? Its not like his brother was some sort of seductive devil or something of the sort- Just flirty, charismatic, and decently attractive. It was also a matter of Leon having horrible luck when it came to finding decent girls. Lucky for him, as it turned out, the best of them all was the one he met first. Loyalty was assured, and he finally knew where he could safely place his own.
